The Full Harvest Moon

October’s full Moon, known as the Harvest Moon, arrives on Monday, October 6. The Harvest Moon is closely tied to the autumnal equinox.

Spiritually, the Harvest Moon symbolizes gratitude, abundance and closure. This marks a time to reflect on the fruits of one’s labor and accomplishments. It encourages individuals to embrace cycles of nature, share blessings, release what no longer serves them, and prepare for the coming introspection of colder months. Practices associated with the Harvest Moon include expressing thanks, decluttering, making significant decisions, and connecting with the earth under the moonlight.

New Moon

The New Moon in October 2025 will occur on Tuesday October 21st.  A new moon is a phase where the moon is invisible in the night sky, though it is an excellent time for stargazing due to the lack of moonlight. You will feel this New Moon on a personal level since this New Moon is associated with Venus, the planet that rules property and money.

Easy Mushroom Soup

For flavorful soups, use a combination of common mushrooms like cremini, portobello, and white button mushrooms with more intensely flavored varieties such as shiitake, oyster, or dried porcini. Mixing different types provides both a hearty texture and a depth of  flavor to your soup.

Sauté the mushrooms: Heat olive oil on medium high heat in a 5 to 6 quart thick-bottomed pot

Add shallots, garlic: Reduce heat to medium

Add  salt, dried tarragon, and the stock to the pot

Purée soup

Stir in cream and reserved mushrooms

There are no measurements here. I trust you can create a yummy soup on your own.

(I made this soup tonight and it turned out good 🙂  use cream to thicken and add some water/flour combo if you want even thicker)
