I Quit

I lived in Phoenix, Az. Not in the best part of town. I worked but basically only to feed my Alcohol Addiction. Alcohol Controlled My Life! I wanted Alcohol, I needed Alcohol, I thought about Alcohol almost every moment I was awake.

There were many times I tried to quit drinking…. with no success. I went to meetings at times. Tried to quit cold turkey but I couldn’t. It was too hard

22 years ago Big Changes were happening in my life. I was moving to California.

On September 3, 1996 I had my last drink of alcohol. I woke up that morning and went to the fridge to get a beer.  Not everyone drinks first thing in the morning. I did.

I wont go into a lot of detail about that morning but by the time I was halfway through with my second beer I had it taken away from me.  It was poured down the drain. I cried. Yes, I had said I was going to Quit, but that was when I got to California!

On the night of September 3rd I drove to California with a car full of plants. All the way I kept thinking “how am I going to do this” and “I am sure I wont be happy without alcohol”.

On September 4th I arrived at my new home in California. That was the first day I was completely sober. I have been completely sober since then.

It has not been easy. Change is hard. I have gone through some major things in my sobriety. Good and Bad. I have stayed sober.

I am Blogging to tell my story and this is a big part of my story.

If your sick and tired of being sick and tired, you can change. I know this from experience. Whether it be Alcohol, Drugs, Food, Relationships, you name it, you can find help. If you need to contact me to help you find support, please do.

I believe change can happen if wanted bad enough and worked for hard enough.

I believe we are all here to help each other.
