We Are Hiking The PCT

I better take a moment to recap our Pacific Crest Trail Adventures before I have too much time and miles behind me. If you have read my few and far between BLOGS, you would know how this Hiking Adventure got started… I watched a Movie, I said out loud “we should do that”, I shared what I said with some family members and here we are… PCT Adventurers.

In January we started hiking. I wrote about the first day and my Husband leaving the keys in car that we left at the Terminus, the starting point of the hike. Here is what has happened since…

1/8/19- Hike 2

We hiked 13.4 miles that day! That was the longest distance I had ever hiked. It was a very nice day. The weather was good and the scenery was beautiful. But those 2 things did not make the hike shorter. The last mile or two I started getting upset. Wondering why the trail went up the mountain instead of around the mountain. I knew that attitude was something I needed to work on in myself. To just go where the path takes me…

1/9/19- Hike 3

On this day we hiked just about 11 miles. We drove up a mountain and hiked down. There was snow on the ground. It was pretty cold. We started hiking. Once we got in the Sun the day got even better. Two long days of hiking… we did it!

2/18/19-Hike 4

Our scheduled spot for hiking in February had to be moved because of the weather. We chose to move our hikes down to Warner Springs. The hike we did on this day was beautiful! We did 8.2 miles through mostly grassy fields. It reminded me of the Sound of Music. During the hike a Storm was headed our way. We completed the hike before it hit. That night the storm dropped snow as we ate dinner in a restraunt.

2/19/19- Hike 5

This day we hiked 10.5 miles. It was a Beautiful Day. The only issues we had on this hike were the 7 ice melt creeks that we had to cross. The first creek we came to the guys threw a big log across the water. That saved us from getting wet. As we get to the second creek… we go up and down the bank looking for an easy way to cross. There is no easy way to cross. My husband jumps across the creek and makes it. If he can do it I can do it! No, I was wrong. I missed the rock and fell in the COLD WATER. That was a bummer. We had to cross 5 more creeks that day. Most of the day our shoes were full of water.

A couple of things I am learning from this adventure- Try not to resist where the path is taking me and go with my gut feeling. If I think I cant or shouldnt do something… dont do it.
